2025 Honda CR-V: What to Expect from the Next-Generation SUV – The Honda CR-V is one of the most famous small SUVs in the world because it is comfortable, useful, fuel-efficient, and dependable. The latest version came out in 2023 with a new look, better technology, and more engine choices. Honda isn’t going to rest on its laurels, though. They are already working on some changes for the 2025 model year, what we know about the 2025 Honda CR-V so far.
What’s New for 2025 ?
Several reports say that the 2025 Honda CR-V will have some big changes to the engine. The most interesting rumour is that Honda is working on a new plug-in hybrid model to go along with the hybrid and fuel types they already have. The plug-in hybrid system should have a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and one or more electric drives. It should have more than 300 horsepower and get great gas mileage. The plug-in hybrid type would also have a range that can be driven on electricity alone, which would make it perfect for people who travel in cities.
There are rumours that the 2025 Honda CR-V will get a regular automatic gearbox with a torque converter instead of the continuously variable gearbox (CVT). This would be a big change. Other users have said that the CVT is dull and noisy. At the same time, the automatic gearbox would make changes smoother and more responsive. The automatic gearbox may have ten speeds, like the one in the bigger Honda Passport.
That being said, the 2025 Honda CR-V probably won’t get any other big changes to its look or structure since it was just redesigned in 2023. But there might be some small changes, like new colour choices, look packages, or built-in features.
Design: Exterior and Interior
The design language used for the 2023 Honda CR-V will still be used for the 2025 model. This gave it a more grown, elegant, and bold look. At the front, there is a big chrome grille with LED headlights and fog lights. At the back, there are LED taillights and a roof spoiler. The sides are smooth and streamlined, with black cladding and gold highlights. The 2025 Honda CR-V will also come with a range of wheels with diameters from 17 to 19 inches.
The inside of the 2025 Honda CR-V will also be mostly the same as the last model year. This means that it will have a roomy, comfy, and high-quality car. There is plenty of space for goods in the CR-V—39.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 75.8 cubic feet behind the first row—and it can fit up to five or seven people, depending on how it’s set up. Soft-touch materials, leather seating, wood trim, and indirect lighting are also inside.
Modern technology will be standard on the 2025 Honda CR-V. It will have a 10.2-inch interactive TFT metre cluster with a display that can be customised, a 9-inch advanced capacitive touchscreen display audio system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, a hands-free access power tailgate with a walk-away close function, a multi-angle rearview camera, a blind spot information system with cross traffic monitor and adaptable.
Powertrain
As we already said, the 2025 Honda CR-V will come with three different powertrains: a fuel engine, a hybrid engine, and a plug-in hybrid engine. A 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 240 Nm of torque will power the petrol type. There will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors in the hybrid type. Together, they will make 204 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid model will have the same basic structure as the hybrid model. Still, it will have a bigger battery pack and electric motors that are more powerful, making over 300 horsepower.
Everyone will be able to choose between a CVT or a regular automatic gearbox, as well as front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The fuel economy numbers aren’t out yet, but we think they’ll be competitive for the class.
Release Date and Price
We haven’t heard when and how much the 2025 Honda CR-V will cost yet, but we think they’ll be announced sometime in late 2024 or early 2025. The base price for the current model is about $30,000. We don’t think the price will go up much for the next generation. The plug-in hybrid model, on the other hand, may cost more than the normal hybrid model because it has better gas mileage and an electric range.
Other small SUVs that will be for sale in 2025 and go up against the Honda CR-V are the Mazda CX-50, the Kia Sportage Hybrid, the Subaru Forester, the Toyota RAV4, and the Hyundai Tucson.
